Deborah, excellent post!

I would add one thing to the search-engine optimization advice: backlinks are crucial, and becoming more important all the time. Google continues to adjust its rules, and backlinks are weighing more heavily. How do you get backlinks? It’s relationship-building, which is as old as time — except the tools we use are new and different.
